According to the latest customs data, Turkey flat steel imports which includes 7208 (HR coils /Plates), 7209 (CR coils), 7225 (Electrical sheets),7210/7212(GP/GC) has imported 0.72 MnT in Oct’17 in contrast to 0.84 MnT in Sep’17.Thus nation’s flat steel imports decline by 14%,on monthly basis in Oct’17 against previous month.
As per reports domestic demand in Turkey remain subdued.Also imported HRC prices were costlier compared to local prices which resulted in decline in import volumes.
On yearly basis Turkey flat steel imports registered the growth of 29% in Oct ‘17 as compared to 0. 56 MnT in Oct’16.
During the first ten months of 2017 (Jan-Oct),country’s flat steel imports slightly down by 0.15% to 6.61MnT against 6.62 MnT in consecutive time frame of previous year.

Russia was the largest flat steel exporter to Turkey-Russia was the major flat steel exporter to Turkey and has exported 2.40 MnT of flat steel (which contributes for 30% of share) in the tenure of Jan-Oct’17.Other major flat steel exporting countries to Turkey in Jan-Oct’17 includes Ukraine stood at 0.53 MnT(8%),France 0.55 MnT (8%) and South Korea at 0.45 MnT (7%).
In the month of Oct’17 Turkey has imported 0.16 MnT of flat steel to Russia followed by France, South Korea and Belgium at 0.06 MnT.
