India’s largest power generator, NTPC Ltd, has invited proposals for possible acquisition of operational domestic coal based plants located in the country.
A Request of Proposal (RFP) had been invited for the same from Promoters/Lenders, Authorized financial intermediates of the power generating companies, Independent power producers/Developers for offering their plants.
The proposal for the possible acquisition is to be made online in two stages; Stage-I will be Techno-commercial round and the in the later stage price for acquisition would be finalized.
It is not the first time that NTPC has shown interest in taking over an existing power plant; the company has previously acquired 4 power stations from state/central utilities.
Business development through acquisition of an existing power plant is not the only interest of Indian economy, but it also provides opportunity for NTPC to add to its power generation capacity at a very low gestation period.

The interested power companies who wish to offer their plant for acquisition can download proposal document from NTPC e-tender website www.ntpctender.com from 28 Nov’17 to 21 Dec’17.
Schedule for Tender Process:
Stage-I (Techno-Commercial) shall be invited upto 1430 hrs (IST) on 5 Jan’17 and shall be opened on the same date at 1500 hrs (IST).
Stage-II (Price) Proposals shall be intimated separately after the opening of Stage-I proposals.
