South Korea has recorded imports reduction by 12% M-o-M to 6.14 MnT in Oct’17 as against 7.01 MnT in Sep’17. However it was up 5% Y-o-Y in Oct’17 against 5.84 MnT in Oct’16.
The Y-o-Y change from Jan-Oct’17, the country has rose iron ore by 3% to 60.28 MnT as compared to the same period previous year to 58.78 MnT.
The non-agglomerated ore (Lumps and Fines) witnessed a decline of 19% M-o-M to 5.53 MnT in Oct’17 against 6.83 MnT in Sep’17, and a hike of 1% Y-o-Y imports to 5.53 MnT in Oct’17 as compared to 5.45 MnT in Oct’16.
Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) imports recorded an increase of more than three times M-o-M South Korea imports to 0.61 MnT in Oct’17 as against 0.18 MnT in Sep’17. It was also up 56% Y-o-Y in Oct’as compared to Oct’16 which was at 0.39 MnT then.

Australia continues to remain largest iron ore exporter to South Korea in Oct’17 and it exported 4.06 MnT, followed by Brazil 0.91 MnT and South Africa 0.44 MnT.
