As per recent customs data, Russia has exported 1.59 MnT ferrous scrap during Q3 CY17 and witnessed 17% Q-o-Q rise in its exports against 1.36 MnT ferrous scrap exports during Q2 CY17 while 12% growth has registered against 1.42 MnT ferrous scrap exports during Q3 CY16.
Russia has exported 0.57 MnT ferrous scrap in Sept’17, which have grown by 10% M-o-M as exports were at 0.52 MnT in Aug’17.On yearly premises, Russia’s ferrous scrap exports witnessed rise by 12% Y-o-Y as exports were noted at 0.51 MnT in Sept’16.
Russia is world’s fourth largest ferrous scrap exporter after EU, USA and Japan. It annually exports around 5-6 MnT ferrous scrap. Russia exported 5.32 MnT ferrous scrap in CY16.
During first nine months of CY17 (Jan-Sept’17), Russian ferrous scrap exports summed up at 3.58 MnT, lesser by 9% against 3.94 MnT ferrous scrap exports during the same period in CY16.
Major scrap loading ports in Russia are North-West Federal district, Far East Federal district, Central Federal district and Southern Federal district.
Turkey remained the top destination for Russian ferrous scrap exports –
In the considered month (Sept’17), Turkey’s share was highest in Russian ferrous scrap exports at 0.28 MnT followed by Belarus (0.11 MnT), South Korea (0.10 MnT), Egypt (0.03 MnT) and Spain (0.02 MnT).Portugal and Lithuania each have imported 0.01 MnT ferrous scrap from Russia in Sept’17.
During Jan-Sept’17, out of total 3.58 MnT Russian ferrous scrap exports, Turkey imported 1.64 MnT occupying highest share of 46% followed by Belarus (0.83 MnT), South Korea (0.70 MnT), Spain (0.18 MnT) and Egypt (0.05 MnT) respectively.
Belarus registered 41% growth in its ferrous scrap imports while Spain almost halved it against the imports in the same time frame during last year from Russia.
