Essar Steel – an integrated steelmaker with steel making capacity of 10 MnT p.a. increased its iron ore & pellet sourcing by 8% M-o-M to 1.02 MnT in Oct’17 compared to 0.95 MnT in Sept’17.
However Iron ore & pellet sourcing up 7% Y-o-Y in Oct’17 compared to 0.96 MnT last same month.
Iron ore procurement from NMDC (C.G.) up by 18% M-o-M – Essar Steel procured iron ore 0.58 MnT up by 18% in Oct’17 from NMDC’s Bailadila mines in Chhattisgarh via slurry pipelne against 0.49 MnT in Sept. However it was also up 4% Y-o-Y in Oct’17 compared to 0.56 MnT in Oct’16.
Sourcing from Odisha’s merchant mines down by 22% M-o-M – Essar Steel sourced 0.36 MnT iron ore from Odisha’s merchant mines down by 22% M-o-M in Oct’17 compared to 0.46 MnT in Sept’17. Out of the total iron ore sourced from Odisha in Oct’17, largest share was KJS Ahluwalia Mines (0.17 MnT) followed by Serajuddin Mines (0.10 MnT) and Indrani Patnaik mines at (0.06) MnT.
Essar Steel imported pellets in Oct’17- Essar Steel pellet imports reached 0.9 MnT in Oct’17. The steel maker did not import any cargo in Sept’17. According to customs data maintained with SteelMint, in Oct’17, Essar Steel imported 88,000 MT pellets from Bahrain at its Hazira steel plant.
Pellet exports from Essar Steel increase significantly – Essar Steel exported 0.71 MnT pellets from Apr-Oct’17, compared to 0.68 MnT in the same time frame last year. In previous fiscal, it exported 1.37 MnT pellets.
