Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has reported their lowest monthly coal production for FY18 in Oct’17, as production fell 11% M-o-M to 4.04 MnT against 4.54 MnT in Sep’17.
Monthly production was also 14% lower on the year compared with 4.7 MnT coal production recorded in Oct’16.
Total coal production during the first seven months of the current fiscal FY18 (Apr’17-Oct’17) increased 3% Y-o-Y to 31.83 MnT, compared with 30.88 MnT coal produced during the corresponding period in 2016. Thus, the company managed to achieve 91% of its set production target of 35 MnT for the period.
SCCL’s coal dispatch increased 9% both on the monthly and yearly basis to 5.1 MnT in Oct’17. Total coal dispatch increased 12.16% Y-o-Y to 35.05 MnT during Apr’17-Oct’17 period. Despite the enhanced coal dispatch, the company failed to achieve the set dispatch target of 36.02 MnT.
Area-wise Coal Production in Oct’17:
Out of the total quantity, about 0.66 MnT coal was produced from Underground coal mining while the remaining 3.38 MnT coal was produced from the Open Cast projects.
Coal Production from the Kothagudem area was recorded highest during the month at 0.77 MnT, followed by Ramagundam-III, Belampalli, Manuguru and Ramagundam-I.
Only Ramagundam-III area had achieved its monthly production target amongst the 11 mining areas. Total coal production from Ramagundem-III area was 0.616 MnT against the set target of 0.51 MnT for Oct’17.

SCCL’s power plant ranked 8th in the country:
SCCL power plant in Telangana was adjudged as the eighth best thermal power generation station in the country during the first half of the current financial year based on its plant load factor (PLF).
The 1200 MW (2X600 MW) plant achieved 86.87% PLF in Apr’17-Sep’17.
The company’s officials are also planning to commence second phase of the existing plant and have decided to give the work of setting up the new 800 MW super critical thermal power unit to Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) on nomination basis.
